TAMAR EPISODE (27 & 28)

 TAMAR

Episode 27

I did not leave immediately, I needed to be ready spiritually and mentally to do so, after another year went by, making it the second year that I have being with the physician i felt ready to go.

Tedran likes Shamara and they were planning to get married, I was so happy for the two of them, they will make an awesome couple. They will be married whenever Tedran returns from the journey with me

Lord Cozam asked me if I was sure of travelling down like I have intended and I assured him that I was, I knew it was time.

He bought me new cloths and foot wear, and also got me a khimar, a head covering, which I wore around my head and cover my face, their was a net on the face, which helps me in seeing everything and everyone clearly but they can’t see me.

I was grateful to lord Cozam, he spoke with me that day, telling me to be careful and make sure I listen to the voice of God and I promise to do so, I told him that Tedran and i will be fine because the most high is with us.

I thank God for Lord Cozam who was like a father to me, he never acted indifference to me or Shamara and he was kind and down to earth just like his son Tedran.

I hugged Shamara and told her that her husband to be is safe with me and I will return with him in sound health, Tedran, whom she seem to love so much, he also loves her too laugh at my funny jest, we all crack some joke about it and laugh some more.

I knelt and greeted lord Cozam as he gave me and his son his blessings of a favorable journey.

Shamara hugged me and bid me farewell.

We later left, I sat beside Tedran as he speed into the dusty long road that leads to the first and second district.

We stopped on the road to buy food and drink before proceeding.

It was indeed a long journey, when night approached, we stop by an inn and paid for the night, we rested and the following morning we continued our journey and arrived by early noon.

Tedran already know what to do and say, we have talked about it and he was eager to help in anyway he can.

I asked him to stop at Rhonda’s place first and he did, I went inside and met the twins and little Jon who was already three years old, they were all looking bigger, little Jon was running around the compound, and they all suddenly stopped and stare at me as I entered, then one of the twins called out to Rhonda who was inside

“Mother…mother come quickly… there’s a stranger here to see you…"

Rhonda quickly ran out and also stood as I approach, I removed my head cover to make them feel at peace.

Rhonda fell back in shock on realizing that I was the one, I held her in my arms she relaxed in my arm and began to sob.

“Is this really you Tamar? oh my God. you are alive, may God be praise. But how…? I don’t understand, people said you died from the lion’s wound, they took you to the burial ground and buried you. how come…seeing the scar on your face is an evidence that you are truly the one, you are alive, where have you being? may all the glory be returned unto God! oh my Jesus...."

Rhonda was crying and I all I did was to smile, I told her all that happened as we sat down, I introduce Tedran to her and she was so grateful to him and his father.

I asked Rhonda how she has being coping with the kids and she said God has being providing through her little trade, I was glad to hear that.

After eating and drinking the things Rhonda offered us, I began to speak with her and the same time watch as Tedran played with the kids, little Jon was giggling all around him, as they race together, I can’t help but smile.

Tedran really love kids and I pray God will bless him and Shamara with children.

“The twins mother died in the lion’s den, is so sad she has to go that way, she did not receive Christ and did not have any child to call her mother, so Rhonda, you will do me a great favor…"

"I owe you my life Tamar, It still baffles me that you are actually sitting here with me, thank you so much Tamar, I thought I will never get this opportunity to say thank you to you, I’m really grateful to God for using you to bring laughter to my life. say whatever you want and I will be so glad to help in anyway I can.."

"Thank you Rhonda, I thought of the children when I was sent to Mandioh, and thought whatever that was hidden will remain hidden, but when God saved me from the lions, I have promise myself to do the this. this can not be hidden forever, I think God wants you to do the right thing now that Okra is gone. The twins, you don’t really need to return them, no, I’m not asking for that. they are yours, even heaven knows that you are a great mother to them than their real mother will ever be but the merchant, Okra’s husband, must be very lonely, no wife and no children, I don’t know how he is coping through life. I will find out if he later remarries, he deserve to know he has children somewhere, the Merchant will not take the girls from you but he will be so glad to know that he have this beautiful twins and they have his resemblance too.

Do not panic, I will do my normal findings and return back to you, if is necessary for him to know about the children I will let you know, if not, then they are yours to keep forever. And also little Jon, let God’s will be done over you and this children…and may he keep perfecting everything that concerns every one of us..."

Rhonda accepted what I said and after some more talk, we hugged and bid each other good bye before proceeding to Adolfo’s house. My head was once again covered.

On getting there, right at the gate, i introduce myself and Tedran as my brother and that we are there to see Adolfo, we are physician from the far end district.

They allowed us in and Adolfo was informed.

I saw him coming out as we sat waiting for him at his visitor’s shade, he hasn’t aged one bit, still looking like the last time i saw him, he has a wedding band on his finger, I wondered within me if he later got married again after Zity.

who could he be married to? I wondered within me.

Just then I saw Eura and I almost screamed in shock but held myself back, she was putting on a royal apparel and she also had a wedding band on her ring finger, which means she was married to Adolfo.

I couldn’t keep calm, I was so happy and felt like screaming with joy, I breathed severally to remain calm, Eura was glowing in pride, she looks so beautiful, Adolfo was not looking too cheerful, he looked like something wasn’t right.

Eura greeted us warmly and we responded before she walked pass us.

Adolfo came and Tedran introduced me as his sister, Leah and also a physicians coming from the far end of the fourth district and we needed a place to stay for the night.

Adolfo was quiet fro sometime, he called Eura’s attention and she came to sit beside him, before he spoke,

"Here is my beautiful wife, Eura, my name is Adolfo and you are warmly welcome to my home, my servants will attend to your needs but we are Christians and we serve the one true God, I don’t know if you will be comfortable staying under our roof. I and my wife will be glad to have you until you are ready to continue with your journey. we don’t really care about the kind of god you serve but we will let you know that our God is the only true God above and below, Jehovah is a loving God, and he has put it in our heart to welcome any stranger that comes to us in need. so you are welcome, but why is your sister’s face covered?

"She has an injury, more of fire incident, and it left her with a deep burnt scar. we will be glad to be under your roof my lord, we are also Christians, we all believe in the one true God.." Tedran replied.

"Sorry to hear that my lady, I’m glad to have you two here, you are both welcome. I feel good knowing well that you are not an idol worshiper like I use to be before my dear wife led me to God and also with the help of a dear sister, she is late now, she died with honor after she was asked to deny God and to proclaimed the god of this kingdom as her god. She refused, she and her second refused to do so. The people that witnessed it said the lions couldn’t eat her after she was thrown inside but they left her with life threatening wound and before the physician could attend to her and the second lady, it was already late, they both lost too much blood and couldn’t make it, but the woman that planned all of that was consumed same with the owner of the lions. Is being so sad, even after two years, her memory remain fresh in our heart but we feel at peace knowing where she is, at the right hand of God almighty, I also lost a son two years ago, yeah, that is still part of my sadness, I lost my only son, his name is Chakan…"

I freezed and went cold, I felt fear all over and almost pull off my cover, as I listen to Adolfo.

My eyes was widened in shock through my veil as listened to the sad tale.

Chakan! How, what happened?

I have so many questions.

I asked Adolfo to please continue

I listened keenly as Adolfo continued

"…After the death of the two ladies, Chakan was angry with his wife for planning such with her friend, who’s name was Okra, Okra was married to a merchant but she was a very difficult woman, she is dead now though. My son got into a heated argument with his pregnant wife and later stormed out of the house angrily, he was riding with speed on his chariot when he fell off and broke his neck. Great physicians were brought down here to help him get well but he kept getting worst. there’s a young man called Abel, he was Chakan’s father in-laws’ master servant and was also in charge of the man’s port business, lord Reese was the second prime ruler, you must have heard of him. my son was married to his daughter, so when Abel came, he said God revealed to him that Chakan won’t make it and he needed to pray for him before he Trac to the underworld. Abel sat by his bedside and prayed for him, he led him to Christ before he died. Is being two years now, whenever I think of the sad happenings in my life, I feel like God striped me off, it was first wife, first wife who bore Chakan for me before passing away, followed by Tamar, a dear friend when I needed a friend to help me through my lonely time. Then death took my only son again from me. Chakan’s wife moved back to her father’s house and remained there, that was where she is with the son she had for Chakan, my own grand child. I feel comforted and happy that I have a grandchild, I wasn’t totally striped off by the enemy. although it still feels sad, no parents prays to loose their child, Me and Eura has being married for a year and some months now and yet no child but we are believing that God will bless us with one soon. Abel use to come down here once in a while and speak to us about God and how mighty he was, well he contributed in building my faith up. that young man is something else, he is filled with the holy spirit, Devil must be so afraid of him because Abel hears from God directly..."

I smiled behind my veil. That's my Abel, he is totally sold out for God.

Adolfo managed a smile as he continues.

"... He refuse to talk about Tamar, whenever we mention her to him he will only smile and say “whoever trust in the Lord will never be put to shame”. That’s all he says, he is never sad about her death like we were but he was keen on making me a strong man in the Lord and I must say he did a great job. Now I’m all sold out for God. May the soul of my dearest son, Chakan and also Tamar, the slave girl that first took the bold step which brought about our salvation, she was selfless and so loving and also kind, ready to talk about God anytime and anywhere, may they continue to rest in the bosom of the almighty God, who knows why everything happen…"

I felt tears running down my face and i decided to pull off my cover, Tedran looked at me to make sure I know what I was doing and I replied him.

"Tedran, is fine. I can’t hide anymore, my heart want to burst out of me. don’t worry, I’m fine, I will uncover the face and let them know who sit before them…"

I watch as Adolfo and Eura looked at me confused as I try to remove the khimar, my face cover.

despite there was a dark line of sadness under Adolfo’s eyes, one can see that he loves Eura, his wife.

I gently lifted my head cover, at first they didn’t recognized me but they later did immediately I said my real name.

Eura fell into Adolfo’s hand in shock, Tedran helped her quickly as she fell down, it was as if she was traumatized, and Adolfo was battling with his own shock but all I did was to smile and wipe my eyes off tears.

Eura later recovered from the trauma as she stare at me like I just fell from heaven or like a ghost.

They began to ask if I was truly the one as they both gave me a serious stare

When they saw that I was the same Tamar that was suppose to be dead and rot away in the grave, it was unbelievable for them.

Eura gently came to me, counting her every step and we fell into a warm hug.

she saw that I was actually real, I wasn’t a ghost, I was so happy, so happy not just because I was seeing them but also because they proudly say that they are believers and was opening their home to total strangers without even knowing who I was.

I was so proud of Eura, she helped Adolfo to believe, it saddened me that Chakan died, it sound unbelievable but I was glad that Abel came at the right time and led him to the light before he passed unto glory.

As we all calm down, they were eager to know how I survived.

I told them how it all happened, I told them of all my encounter and even Tedran added few word, as he speak to them on what happened during the time I was in a coma, Eura began to cry as she sat beside me and held my hands.

Adolfo couldn’t still believe that God can work in such a way, he stood and opened his arm for me and I went in, he held onto me muttering many thanks to God. He later loosened up and looked at my scar.

"These are obviously the mark of the lions, you made it alive. is not because you are strong Tamar but it was because of God who you boldly speak off in the presence of all the people and you did not deny him because of fear. he came through for you Tamar, truly there is a God greater than every other god that ever existed. Oh Jesus…this is just too much of a miracle to believe. you survived the lions and Okra and Mandioh went into their belle like worms, wow…this is… too much, thank you Jehovah for saving your own…"

It was a great time of reunion, I felt so glad as I listen to Adolfo talk about God, he took everything about God pretty serious, I can’t help but laugh at his zealousness, I felt fulfilled, listening to him.

I thought of little Jon, very soon he will know that he has a son somewhere whom God led me to save, even though Chakan is gone, Jon will bring back the spark in Adolfo’s saddened eyes and I know very soon God will also open Eura’s womb and she will conceive and bear more Children for Adolfo as he has prayed for.

the next day, we all gathered and talked more about God and sing praises to him, it was so glorious being in his presence with believers.

On the third day of our stay, Tedran and I decided to continued our journey, Adolfo and Eura wanted us to stay longer but we are on a mission and it has to be accomplished, we told them we will return as soon as we are done with our quest.

We hugged and bid Adolfo and Eura, good bye.

We journeyed to Lord Reese estate, where I will get to meet Abel, lady Zity, her father and mother, and also Vim.

I still have to visit the merchant and know how he is doing.

Tedran needs to return soon, so that he can get married to Shamara and build a happy and Godly home together with her.

TAMAR

Episode 28

I silently prayed to God for wisdom as we approach Lord Reese gate and God answered.

we saw two elderly men with grey hair all over their head, they both looks like physicians coming out of the big estate, I told Tedran to inquire from them who they went to treat.

"Kind greetings my lords, we are from the far end of the fourth district, my name is Tedran, and here with me is my sister Leah, we are physicians…"

" You are also physician? welcome to our district. I guess you are here to see Lord Reese, the second prime ruler of this kingdom, that’s where we are also coming from. I don’t think he will make it, he is not getting any better, this will be our last visit. His son instructed us not to come again, he said it was a waste of time because his father never improves in his health no matter what we do, not just us, even other physicians were asked to stop coming again. do you know that he fell ill years ago and no physician could do anything for him, rumor has it then that it was a slave girl, their daughter’s personal maid that used her magic power to heal him but the girl is dead now, Mandioh’s lion killed her, and Lord Reese son who had so much interest in the girl went into rage and send Mandioh and his accomplice, a merchant’s wife to the lions and they were eaten up, the young man shot at the lions severally until they all died, nobody in this kingdom can forget that day in a hurry. lord Reese son is mostly feared by people, he is not as calm as his father back then but he seem calm now, he was shooting like a mad man that day because of a common slave girl, he fell in love with her and wanted to marry her but the slave girl turned him down and said she can not marry him because her god did not approve, he was angry and gave out everything he bought for the girl, so people thought he has truly washed his hand off her. because she is a Christian she was sent to Mandioh and when that crazy young man was informed and he rushed down it was too late because she was already in the lion’s den, is being almost three years now and the story is still fresh. well, the girl refuse to worship the gods of our land, people that witnessed it said that Mandioh gave her several chance to denounce her god, she was a fanatic Christian, a very stubborn one, she refused do such thing even in the face of death. who does that kind of foolish thing, choosing death over life, she and another slave girl died. well people said the Lions didn’t eat her but left her deeply wounded and by the time she was shoveled out of the den with her second, physicians couldn't do anything, it was already late, they both died. Even Lord Reese daughter’s husband, Adolfo’s son from the second district also died, so many unfortunate happening has befalling on the Reese family, and we learnt that lord Reese children are not in good term, the young man has created bridge with the sister, now the slave girl is dead and no physician can do anything anymore for Lord Reese, we are going back to our homes, we wish you good luck but is better you don’t waste your precious time with him he can’t get better. you are still very young, we are well experienced men in this work than you are, yet we can’t do anything for him, we hand him over to the gods, my son is better you do the same..."

That was a long, not very necessary talk.

The physician has an unbridled tongue of gossip .

We greeted again and thanked them for their kind information before proceeding, it was clear we came as God has willed it to be.

When we got to the gate we introduce ourselves to the soldiers by the gate, and they told us that Lord Vim has instructed them not to open the gate for any physician again, that none of the physician that came was able to help their master to get better, instead he kept getting worst.

The soldiers asked us to leave immediately before lord Vim comes out and see us, they said he can be a hardened man and doesn’t like his word to be disobeyed.

And just then i saw Abel approaching the gate, my heart was so gladden, I wish I can jump over the gate and run into his arm.

Oh, my heart was gladdened, I have really missed Abel, so very much that all I wanted to do was to go into his broad arms, he has a line of white hair in between and each side of his head, which wasn’t there before, Abel was over forty now, except for the white hair which makes him look older, one will mistake him to be in his twenties.

wondered if he later got married and to who?

Did Vim also marry, Adolfo did not mention anything on that, maybe he doesn’t want to make me feel uncomfortable with the news that Vim or Abel got married.

I wouldn’t have felt bad, deep down I was no more carried away with marriage fantasy, having a husband and children was not as important as it has seem to me before.

I wasn’t dwelling on that fantasy anymore like I use to before my encounter with the lions, my heart is totally sold out for God and what ever he wants for me will come to past.

I don’t need to stress about it, only his will must be done in my life, if it will please him for me to get married someday, so I will also be please but if he thinks otherwise then I remain focus in him to I breath my last.

I see this life clearly with a better view than I use to do before, well Abel use to say so but I never understood, now I do.

everything and everyone belongs to God, and he owns our life.

Although God has given us the freedom to live as we wish to, whatever we do with our freedom we will answer at the end.

light and darkness is presented to us, whichever one we chose will determine where we will be on the last day.

The soldiers greeted Abel respectfully, he looked at me, my face was covered so he wouldn’t know who was behind the Khimar, my facial covering.

Abel looked at me as if he can see past the Khimar, it was as if he can see who was behind the mask.

Tedran turned to look at me thinking I removed my khimar, he wondered what exactly Abel was looking at since my face was covered, Abel looked at me and I have to touch my face to make sure that my Khimar was still on my face.

He suddenly smile, deep and warm smile that got to my soul, making me to smile too behind my mask. He ordered the soldiers to open the gate for us and they quickly did.

We came down from the chariot and walk with him as Tedran did his normal introduction

"Greetings to you my lord, you came at the right time to the gate when the soldiers where keen on sending us away. Thank you for showing us kindness by letting us in, may God also favour you as you have favoured us. We are physician from the far end of the fourth district, my name is Tedran, the son of lord Cozam, a renowned physician who thought me medicine from childhood. Here with me is my sister Leah. We are here to see Lord Reese and do our best for him, we can only treat to the best of our knowledge but God is the best healer, we will like to see him now my lord…"

"Your welcome lord Tedran, we will be so please to have you and your sister stay with us while you attend to the master’s health. Since your journey is far, there’s enough room here for you and your sister and whatever you need will be provided.."

Abel turned to me with a smile

"...my lady, I’m glad to see you…we have being expecting you, I thank the almighty for bringing you at the right time, please come with me.."

I wanted to laugh at the way Abel act cordially, saying every word with full smile as if we are angels from the stars, as much as I wanted to laugh all I did was to smile under my mask and nod my head in respect.

He took us to the passage that leads to Lord Reese chamber, everywhere look to familiar, it was just like yesterday, everything seem almost the same.

And when I saw Vim coming out of his father’s chamber my heart began to beat hard and faster, he looks more huge than the last time, I started sweating under the long gown and the khimar that I wore, thank God for the facial covering that hide all my troubling emotions, we stopped and bow to him in respect, Abel spoke first

"My lord, this are physician from the far end of the fourth district, his name is Tedran and with him here is his sister Leah, they have come to see the master, and I will ask the servants to make room available to them for their journey is far and they will need to carefully attend to the master for days or weeks before returning back…"

Vim looked past me to Tedran

"Well then, if you approve of them is fine by me. I told them at the gate not to let any other physician in again, father is not getting better, mother is always worried, it troubles her greatly that father is still down despite all the powerful physicians coming to him with different specified medicine, I am troubled too and so is everyone. I always trust your judgement Abel, if you think this ones will make a difference then so be it, all I want is father to get better and for mother to stop worrying. I want father to be active again, he can’t even speak reasonable word again, he is just bedridden, I am just tired.."

Vim looked at me carefully and looked away almost immediately

"...why is her face covered with a khimar, why is she covered all over? She needs to remove the facial covering, I have to see the face of the person that's going to attend to my father or is there a problem…?

"Pardon us my lord, my sister has a burnt scar on her face, it makes her feel uncomfortable around people, she feels accepted when she is covered up…" Tedran replied him

I breathed deeply as Tedran spoke in my defense. I needed to say something too, I don’t know if my voice still sound familiar but Adolfo and Eura did not recognize me from the voice until I pulled off my khimar.

I cleared my voice and try to see if I can twist the voice a little so that it will sound strange.

“My name is Leah and I am a physician just as my brother Tedran has said, I do not cover up far fashion sake, is more of to shade from people who do not feel comfortable around my scar, and majority of people get turn off when they see the scar on my face, to prevent people from getting uncomfortable I remain covered up…"

I breathed again, wondering if he catch any glimpse of the voice, Abel stood at one side staring at me, it appears that my voice did not sound familiar to them

"Apologies my lady, you two can go ahead now. Abel will take you to my father’s chamber and if you need anything don’t fail to ask and it will be provided. May your god favour you and make father to get better as you attend to him…"

We bowed as he walk pass us, I heaved a sigh of relief as Abel took us to the master’s chamber.

On getting there, I saw Lady phin, she quietly sat beside her husband.

Lord Reese was so sick, he look so dry and has lost so much weight, my heart melt down at his sight and the sight of lady phin’s ashen face.

Abel had told me in the past that they are my sheep and I have to pasture them, could it be the reason he said they have being expecting me even without knowing who I am?

Abel introduced me and Tedran to lady Phin who acted as if we are just like every other physician that has come and go but she looks like she was ready to accept any help for her husband even if is coming from the dev!l himself.

 Abel turned and left immediately.

My heart broke at the sight that greeted me, I went to lady Phin, I knelt beside her while Tedran checked on Lord Reese.

"my lady, worry not because the master will be alright, for God did not send us down here in vain, his name alone will be glorified over this, the master will be fine by God’s grace. Is not by our power or might but according to the will of God.."

I watched as she tried to see the face behind the mask but couldn’t

“ I don’t know why I felt so at peace with your presence despite I can’t see your face. Abel, the man that lead you in, once told me that his God has sent someone for the master, he said a young lady in a mask, but I did not understand what he meant until now. immediately I saw you I remembered Abel’s word. He has the ear of a god. you speak so boldly like a girl we use to have here, her name was Tamar, she d!ed. She was filled with confidence and not allowing anything or any one to break her down, she stood firm and proclaimed the name of her God as the one true God. They said the lion couldn’t eat her after she was thrown in with another slave but she died from it’s injury she once told us about her God and we wanted to hear more but she got busy with duties. Abel, when I pleaded with him yesterday to pray to his God for his master to receive his healing, he told me God has already sent someone to do so, he reminded me of the lady in a mask, but I still did not understand then, he said a go ahead was not given to him in his spirit to do so but the master will be fine but not for long. I don’t really care how long he has to be okay but I want to hear him speak to me and look at me like he use to do before. Even if is one more time, just ones, I will be fine with that. watching him fades away like this is saddening. Leah, that’s your name, please do whatever you can for him…"

I bowed in respect before standing

I went to sit beside the master’s bed, i took his weak hands into mine and held onto them as if he was a child, I told Tedran to hold his legs gently and he did we bow our head.

I silently sang repeatedly and then I prayed just few word prayer as the holy spirit lead.

After that day we were given a place to sleep, I had a room and Tedran has his too.
